Head Down
Scratching the Dev Itch.
Been properly heads down building a content creation platform over the past few weeks, and I'm enjoying the challenge, scratching the dev itch again.
At the start, it’s less about “building a product” and more about getting a working foundation in place. Wiring things together, testing different approaches to course structure, figuring out how content should actually flow through the system. Some of it sticks, a lot of it gets ripped out again. That’s pretty much what this has been.
It’s only recently started to feel like an actual platform rather than a collection of parts. You can move through it, create content, organise things, and it doesn’t immediately fight back.
A lot of the work now is going back over the core of it:
- how courses are structured
- how lessons are organised
- how quickly you can move things around without breaking anything
If you’ve used most course authoring tools or learning platforms, you’ll know this is where they usually fall down. They work fine at the start, then get clunky as soon as you try to do anything at scale.
Trying to avoid that early rather than patching it later.
Still early days, but it’s starting to feel like something that could actually be used properly.
